Profile of the week!

Josef Umenberger currently holds the psotion of Area Executive Chef for Banyan Tree Bintan and Angsana Bintan Resorts, heading a team of over 70 chefs & 25 stewards. He oversees food & beverage production for all signature food outlets as well as in-villa dining. He graduated from Berufschule II Gmunden, a Vocational Chef’s school in Austria in 1984 and started his career at Hotel Donauschlinge in Austria in 1981, as Apprentice Chef at the age of 15 years.
Josef built his expereince in hotels & cruise lines around the world such as Royal Viking Line, Frankfurt Marriott Hotel, J.W. Marriott, Hyatt, Shangri-la Hotels and has been with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resort since 2006.
An Austrian native, Josef speaks German, English and Spanish. He is married and has a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and travelling.
